So it is easy to access and always will be there when you need it. Remains well fixed to the backpack, but not static, to have the opportunity to drop off it for one reason or another: to dry, to be washed separately, to put it on another backpack, to use it for other purposes / seating on wet grass, wrapping wet clothes and shoes etc./
